Di era globalisasi ini, perkembangan teknologi sudah berkembang dengan pesat. Adanya teknologi memang membantu segala aktifitas manusia dalam melakukan kegiatan. Semua kegiatan bisa dilakukan dengan mudah dan cepat. Di Jepang, meskipun teknologi yang ada sudah sangat berkembang pesat, mereka masih menggunakan surat untuk berkomunikasi dengan sesama. Mereka masih mempertahankan nilai-nilai yang ada, kesopan santunan. Padahal di zaman sekarang ini, e-mail yang ada sudah cukup memberikan berbagai konten. E-mail, merupakan salah satu teknologi yang ada di web. Dengan web kita bisa mendapatkan informasi apapun, kapanpun, dimanapun, dan bahkan bisa dilakukan oleh siapapun.
Menanggapi video yang berjudul “The Machine is Using Us” (www.youtube.com), web 2.0 merupakan hasil dari perkembangan teknologi saat ini. Yang dimana, kita bisa membuat blog dengan mudah, chatting, upload berbagai foto, video, dokumen, dan masih banyak lagi tanpa harus mengalami kesulitan dan kerumitan seperti dulu yang masih menggunakan web 1.0.
Banyak sekali kelebihan web 2.0 dengan web 1.0, yang diantaranya kita bisa melihat sumber pada situs yang dibuka, mengedit suatu halaman situs tersebut, karena kebanyakan websites saat ini ditulis dalam HTML. HTML di buat untuk mendefinisikan struktur sebuah dokumen web. Sebagai perkembangan HTML, beberapa elemen ditambahkan dan tidak bisa dipisahkan dari HTML itu sendiri karena beberpa elemen mendefinisikan pola konten tersebut. Lalu XML, dibuat untuk melakukan itu. Judul, link, dan deskripsi tidak didefinikan untuk form, tapi konten. Dengan begitu, pengguna tidak perlu repot untuk tahu kode-kode rumit dalam mengunduh konten di web, karena form dan kontennya terpisah, inilah kelebihan yang diberikan oleh web 2.0.
Sehebat dan semudah apapun teknologi itu digunakan, pasti ada kekurangan dan hal yang merugikan bagi penggunanya. Saat kita mengunduh foto dan menandai nama didalamnya, maka kita saat itu mengajari mesin untuk memprediksi apa yang akan kita lakukan. Mesinlah yang menggunakan kita untuk mengetahui karakter kita, karena setiap hari banyak sekali orang-orang yang membagi dan menggantungkan berbagai kebutuhannya pada web, tapi disisi lain kita juga perlu memikirkan hal-hal mengenai diri kita dan hak cipta di web.
